My personal style of hatha yoga is a blend of all the popular styles of Yoga that you see today (Yin, Restorative, Flow, Power) The classes are designed around the students who are present in the class. I offer various options for many of the more challenging poses so that everyone in the class can practice safely and at their own level of ability.
Yoga Nidra or "Dynamic Sleep" is a relaxation technique that is practiced from 15 - 35 minutes. Classes typically start with some gentle yoga movements to release any discomfort in the body before laying down or sitting up for the 35 minutes. Th idea is to relax all levels of the self ( Physical body, energetic body, mental/emotional body, belief body & the bliss/divine body) When the whole self is deeply relaxed, yet the person remains conscious, the effects amount to up to 7 hours of regular sleep.
Breathwork practices are profoundly transformative for the nervous system, glandular system & the energy body. I teach a variety of these practices for a variety of conditions. Benefits may include: increased energy, increased immunity to viruses & disease, less anxiety, mental clarity, increased optimism, etc. Classically pranayama was performed before meditation because it makes meditating a lot easier. Breathwork calms & focuses the mind, therefore it goes hand in hand with a meditation practice.
Meditation is often intimidating, but it is so vitally important for us living in a fast paced, multi-tasking world. I have had many students come to me saying that they cannot meditate because they just cannot shut their minds off. Meditation is not about stopping your thoughts, it is about observing and controlling your thoughts. I teach easy meditation practices for those who are new to the practice or have done it before but still have not found a technique that works for them.
An uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices, Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat Nam, meaning "truth is my identity." The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.
